LEA Pool

The council met on Thurs Nov 20th and.......didn't make a final decision about the pool! It was a very heated discussion but they have decided to ask community users (i.e. us, the schools and the other clubs) if we can put together a business plan on how the pool could be run by a charity/community group etc. If anybody has ideas please let me know and I'll find out who we should talk to at the council.
I'm still dreaming of being back in the little old LEA pool. One day, one day!

We need the pool but they have been clever throwing it over to someone else to organise the running of it. Like we all have loads of free time to put together a business plan.

Doomed...I hope not

I know they have been close but I still don't recon they can close it... It’s just too much of a resource to waste. Thing is that if they do close it then 5 or 10 years down the line they are going to have to build another (since the leisure pool is blatantly too small for the population of Hereford) and that will cost them 5 times as much as fixing the LEA pool.

I think if it were run independently then there would have to be a job in it somewhere for someone. I have worked with a few voluntary projects and the issue is that no one feels that they have to take responsibility if it’s not actually a paid position. If there was someone employed as the keeper of the pool (one would be enough) then I think it’s possible. How much work can there be in running a pool? (Famous last words)
